Happy Halloween

(in case you can't tell, a combine, grain bin, farmer and an ear of corn!)

brody's baseball gear.

b likes to put on kurt's socks and pretend that he is playing baseball.
wearing pants while playing baseball is optional...at least at our house.  my athletic abilities are limited so running around in undies is just a male activity around here.

celebrate!

rare

these two rarely sit still long enough beside each other for me to find a camera, let alone take a picture.  brody thought it was pretty exciting that they matched today too!

from happy to mad.

pretty sure he was laughing at brody because he had finally gotten the ball and wasn't wanting to give it up.
brody had to make sure riley saw that he had the ball.  riley started in with his glare.
he told brody off in his mumbo jumbo way and then...
he pouted...(usually his bottom lip sticks out)
and threw himself on the floor.

and that happens more and more frequently now.  you know he is made when he yells...mmmaaawwwwwww!

Cardinal's Baseball

cardinal's baseball has become a favorite of brody's.  he calls himself albert pujols.  somehow he snuck a wiffle ball into the house and in a weak moment they played a little ball in the house during a cardinal's game.  he is really good at yelling strike, running the bases and sliding into home.  even riley likes to play a little ball, which might upset brody from time to time.

maybe kurt will finally have someone to play pitch and catch with that isn't afraid of the ball?

Working Guy

The only thing Brody has wanted to do was be a working guy and go pick corn.  He would ask daily if they were finished cutting beans so he could ride in the combine.  He knows he can't be around beans due to his allergies, so when he heard one of the bean heads was broken he was ready to go pick corn.  A couple days later, he got his wish.  He was very particular about what he wore...had to be working jeans, working boots, John Deere hat, a t-shirt with a pocket just like Grampy and his dad and a working guy sweatshirt.  He also had to have a lunch box, water jug, cell phone, a key, and a hankerchief.  He also put a tape measure in his lunch box just in case...not sure what that was for??

At first  he wanted me to come along and sit in the little seat, but then he decided that I was just to drop him off so he could work and I could just go home with Riley.  Riley didn't really like that plan.
Riley finally got his turn though too.  About three rounds is all he can take or maybe that's all I can take?  He doesn't like to sit still so it's a challenge to keep him somewhat stationery and occupied.

He had told his Grampy that it's okay to sleep in the combine and later proved that he could indeed sleep in that little seat
After he woke up from his nap that day, he was ready to go back to the field.  This time a surprise was waiting for him...COHEN!  He had to bring his lunch box and water jug again...you never know when you might get hungry I guess.
That day he probably logged close to 5 hours of combine time.  He has since went to work again and logged a couple more hours. The last of the corn is on the agenda for tomorrow and his lunch box is already partially packed.

Uncle Frosty - this is for you!

Grandpa Yakey has a new toy...one that can be heard all across our little village.
He brought it up to our house this evening, which increased traffic on our street almost immediately.  Someone even stopped to see if it was the ice cream truck!  I guess I should have just broke out the bucket of ice cream and started charging admission.

In the midst of all the dancing in the driveway, Grandma Yakey asked that I take a picture with my phone and send it to Uncle Frosty so he could see what his big brother was up to!  I even shot a video just for you Uncle Frosty.

Without further ado, I introduce
---
the shiny red calliope!

He is so proud of it he serenaded the fuel delivery guy today, who in turn, delivered fuel to the elevator and told me all about it!
So, all visitors beware, he has six rolls of music and each has eight songs it.

I think I will research and see if you can get Christmas music for it!  Wouldn't that be an exciting addition to Yakey Christmas this year?  We could turn it into Kalliope Karaoke!

94 years

Sunday, the boys and I headed south to help celebrate Kurt's great-grandmother's birthday.  I hope I'm as spry as she is when I'm that age!
